The Styletti : Outfits of the Day/Night by Designer Minika Ko

We were so fortunate to check out some designs by Minika Ko, an emerging designer who just showed during NYFW. Her new KOVASKY line includes all-white stain-resistant garments. Yes, white AND stain resistant! And now, for Liliya’s review from Miami (pre-Irma)…

Minika sent me three pieces from her current collection. I was instantly smitten with the white dress. It’s style is sort of a mix of Audrey Hepburn with a bit of Jackie O: simple, yet elegant. It’s also very sexy without being revealing.

I absolutely love the fact it’s all white. The dress looks great with flats or heels and makes for a convenient day-to-night look. The fabric is a bit warm for warm Miami weather. But it’s very comfortable for evening time.

I chose to wear the dress with salmon-colored Prada heels. Although the piece would look great with all types and colors of shoes, I wanted to add a pop of color and make the look more dynamic. I also like how white and light salmon compliment a Florida tan.

Minika Ko white suit

I styled the suit with a faux pearl choker and bracelet from Zara that remind me a lot of Chanel. I really love how the gold tone of the jewelry matches the gold details (like a gold chain) on the silk Joie top I wore.

As soon as I saw these jewelry pieces (a long time ago), I knew I had to have them. I was with my friend Yana. After seeing how excited I was about them, Yana was like – fine, I’ll get them too. She still calls them our Chanel pieces.

When I first saw the suit, it seemed a bit tricky to pull off. I wasn’t thrilled about the length of the pants. They didn’t seem full nor length on me but instead, hit my leg at a spot in the middle. I thought that maybe I was a bit short for them. But then I saw them on the MINIKA KO WEBSITE. And I realized how beautiful they look with heels. (The length is just right.) The high waist and lines also really compliment my figure.

Note from Janea – I just returned to the west coast after photographing attendees of New York Fashion Week. One trend on the Spring 2018 runways and the street now is WHITE-WHITE-WHITE. There’s no better time to check out MINIKA KO!
