NEW YORK CITY, NY - February 18, 2017 - On Friday, February 17th at 8 PM, Minika Ko joined New York City artists and designers for a benefit fashion and art show, entitled Fashion Week F/W 2017 Closing Party, to help raise awareness of the child trafficking issues in the world. The event took place at the historic Church of Holy Apostles, which has a rich history of being the center of social outreach in New York City. The church, which serves as a soup kitchen by day, was transformed into a marvelous avant-garde venue for the event.

Minika Ko presented an extension of her acclaimed ready-to-wear collection Kovasky debuted in September 2016 in a runway show of innovative design, live music performance, and spectacular showmanship. The collection, made of cutting-edge performance fabrics in a high-end tailored fit, shone brightly as the exemplary crossroad of modern and classical creation. The collection featured wrinkle-resistant business attire and evening wear, weather-proof trench coats, and water-repellent white suits.

Accompanying the show was an astonishing display of musical craftsmanship, as a trio of renowned Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center regulars performed an improvisational piece of wild imagination. The compositions included classical opera aria remixes consisting of contemporary musical elements from the genres of hip hop, techno, and more. Pianist Chi Wei Lo, violist Wei-Yang Andy Lin, and mezzo-soprano Anna Cley dazzled the crowd as a trio, performing together for their first time. It was a marvelous addition to Minika Ko’s runway show.
