SVA Language of Fashion
Minika Ko was invited to join Michael Kors, Philip Lim, Jason Wu, and other celebrity designers on September 8th, the opening day of New York Fashion Week, to participate as one of the judges in the School of Visual Art’s annual event, Language of Fashion.
This event was centered on a two-part exhibition curated by the Senior Vice President of Bergdorf Goodman Fashion Office, Linda Fargo, involving 20 top designers who were attending and participating as judges.
The Premiere Gala kicked-off at a reception on September 8 for Press and VIPs at 601 Madison Avenue to preview the collection of original fashions inspired by the graphic designs and created by students. After the reception, the guests and press viewed the public installation of 15-21 heroic-sized cut-out graphics displayed on Madison Avenue, between 57th and 86th Streets. These sculptures were only displayed for 10 days, September 8 – 18 during New York Fashion Week.
Minika Ko Atelier made and presented 5 designs on the runway in collaboration with the Mood Fabrics and International Pleating.
