The Goddess and Gladiator collection consists of avant garde and one of a kind pieces birthed from Minika Ko’s collaboration with social activist sculptor Takashi Horisaki. It redefines beauty by demonstrating the seemingly opposite attributes in women: composed wisdom and mighty strength, vulnerability and courage, goddess and gladiator.
Minika Ko was invited to join Michael Kors, Philip Lim, Jason Wu, and other celebrity designers on September 8th, the opening day of New York Fashion Week, to participate as one of the judges in the School of Visual Art’s annual event, Language of Fashion.
To experience CloudDress is to exist in this state. Its airy design lifts the weight of our detached selves and inspires the hope and faith that the natural world embodies. Thoughtfully crafted by Minika Ko, CloudDress not only replicates nature, but continues to evolve with it.
CloudDress has a removable NeoPixel panel, granting you the option to personalize a special light for your CloudDress. Like many of Minika Ko's creations, each CloudDress is draped through zero-waste techniques to help address the negative impact that material waste has on the environment.
The pleated dresses were inspired by the clean, modern architecture presented in the Pressing Matters, a publication of the Department of Architecture at PennDesign. Minika transformed the futuristic architecture into dresses via exquisite draping and utilizing the texture of pleated fabrics.
To be true to oneself is to be comfortable with one’s inner and outer halves. With Le Tulle, the New York City based designer Minika Ko has fashioned a skirt that is philosophically grounded in the feeling of self-comfort, such that the love a woman feels for her own body may be spread to her relative world and show forth her ease of sensibility.
Black is the color of time, revelatory by day and enveloping by night. So timeless and versatile is this figure hugging bandeau dress created by Minika Ko. Perfect for layering or by itself as a little black dress, it is the wardrobe essential for the unstoppable metropolitan woman.
By using traditional haute couture techniques, Minika crafted Sì dress through draping and hand sewing. Thoughtful details, such as the horse hair sewn hem, were added to provide distinct shape while still allowing gentle fluidity in the skirt. Finally, ruching the bodice adds pronounced texture, fully emphasizing the feminine silhouette.
The fleur ensemble is hand crafted and sewn by the Minika Ko atelier. Inspired by the Romantic Period, vibrating with ideas about individual liberty, feeling and reflection, the outfits embody romantic femininity. This ensemble includes a ruffled blouse, a silk printed a-line skirt and a mini dress that features both elements.
